Objectives & Activities

The objectives of the Society are to make available effective means of preventing the occurrence of rabies to spread the knowledge of such means among the public and to undertake research work on rabies, influenza, entero viruses or any other diseases and for the following purpose.

To prepare vaccines against emerging viral and bacterial diseases to secure National Health Safety.
To develop the Institute as one of the pioneer Institute in vaccine production at par with reputed vaccine producers.
As a well equipped research center for developing cost effective vaccines under advanced service and as reputed post-graduate training center.
To collaborate with International and National agencies engaged in biomedical research and training in order to equip the Institute to serve the nation by supplying cost effective vaccines.

Present Activities

Qualification, validation of facility and trial batch production of DPT group of vaccines in the new GMP facility.
Rabies Diagnostic Lab and treatment center to cater the need of the general public.
Academic programmes like Ph.D. Microbiology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology (Part time & Full time) affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore and M.D (Microbiology) affiliated to Tamilnadu Dr. M. G. R Medical University, Chennai.
